Keyboardio doesn't have a corporate fediverse account yet, so I'm posting this from my personal account:

We're fine, but, uh, our bank failed this morning.

We're using that as a pretext to hold a giant 72 hour sale on keyboards, caps, switches, & accessories.

Use discount code BANKRUN for 20% off everything we sell at https://shop.keyboard.io.

That includes the Model 100, Atreus, keycaps, and switches.

The argument that Software is Getting Worse, especially Jonathan Blow’s belief that text editors shouldn’t be distributed systems, is mind boggling to me. Ken’s QED and ed(1) editors both were immensely successful because of their ease of calling external programs. They (and their terminals) could be simple in part because they ignored the majority of human languages, including Arabic, Hindi & Mandarin. Humanity is complex.

I don’t know if it’s a “cure” for anything, but I do miss having the free time to hang out and not do things with other people.

(There is no special request form for bed shakers and strobes for those who are deaf or hard of hearing, but you can request it while setting up your appointment.)

This presentation is about platforms, but really, a lot of it is extremely applicable to any sort of medium-to-large-scale software development in general.

If you run Home Assistant via HAOS or a supervisor (basically anything else than a Docker install), update NOW.

Also: don't just port-forward, use a proper VPN if you want to contact your home from the internet.

losing my mind learning github actions has an arbitary limit of "pushed more than 3 tags at once" where it just runs *none* of your triggers and of course I coincidentally tested with a workspace that pushed at most 3 tags and so it Worked Fine For Me

A fun roundup/opinions on monospace fonts. I’m still using Source Code Pro, though every now and then, I try out an alternative for a little while. So far, none have stuck - there’s just something about the character width and stoke thickness that really appeal to me.

OH: A unit test is any test that is too large to be reasonable and so you look at it and go “man that test is an absolute unit”
