I’m surprised there doesn’t seem to be a Synology or UniFi of home security systems: supported open source on decent hardware with direct system access available. Seems like the SmartThings and HomeAssistant users would be interested in something that Just Works for their less tinkerful life partners.

That’s interesting! I was thinking more zigbee, z-wave, or matter based networking to integrate to other sensors, but I can understand thats a trade off. Still feel like it should have a wall panel and monitoring service available, but maybe a dedicated tablet covers the first.
