@alpha They look like they're doing it the not-daft way, at least? Slowly, respectfully and with "must actually do what the old site did before we change anything"?
@flippac It is certainly much less daft than the usual approach to rewrites, though still daft it it’s a big-bang rewrite and not slicing off functionality to do a piecemeal replacement.
I also have a hard time believing that the codebase is the main impediment to MeFi’s success at the moment.
@alpha I could see it being an existential threat if they're still on Coldfusion though
(also: we've been told big-bang, but for all we know it's being approached a slice at a time: you'd almost have to in order to do an appropriate job of testing it)
@alpha I suspect it's not that low probability over the kind of timeframe MeFi should be planning over, especially given the consequences of anybody finding a serious exploit now
