If you had to choose between Python and JavaScript syntax for a developer automation tool, what would you prefer?
@4censord I would love to, but I want people in the general public to actually use this
I kind of hate both options for this poll, but it does make me realize that there’s not really a language I do like for this sort of thing. I do want something closer to a scripting language, relatively constrained in syntax, but still expressive enough to not have much boilerplate.

@alpha Yeah, that's the kind of thing I'm going for with this. High level scripting to let you automate doing tasks that would normally take a lot of effort in other ecosystems
@cadey if you can use it without having to touch a package manager, either would be okay tbh
@alpha There’s probably times when I’d prefer Lua or Scheme to these. I’m not disappointed by NeoVim and Helix choosing them respectively.
@josephholsten @alpha Python has a benefit of many many years of sysadmin scripting prior art
but Lua is a lot easier to grasp, especially if you're a beginner
@robdaemon @josephholsten Another weird benefit with Lua is that I can use Fennel instead as a wrapper around it.
@alpha @josephholsten all this reminds me I wish I had played with Lisp Flavored Erlang more
