Any macOS users have strong preferences between NetNewsWire and Reeder for local RSS, and if so why?

(or if you prefer another *native mac app that syncs with iOS* for RSS, let me know, but no web based services please)

@ethanschoonover Reeder certainly looks the nicest, and I really like the app, but I always find myself returning to NetNewsWire. Just the speed and the mac-ishness of it.

I use feedbin as the underlying service.

@jordan yeah it's where I'm leaning for those reasons.

@ethanschoonover absolute zero preference but very interested to hear from others. @calebhailey is another big rss fan who’s used practically every option if I recall right

@webframp @calebhailey I used NNW for years and used tinyrss for a while.

Reeder does a good job with feed discovery (found category feeds for example) but I can do that manually or use other tooling to get that done. NNW has better mac-native experience IMO, so I'm leaning towards it. iCloud sync, etc. it's a solid performer still.

@ethanschoonover I really prefer NNW. It feels way more native. Reeder is dark grey on light grey and I feel like I’m suffocating in the UI animations.

@calebhailey @webframp @viticci @johnvoorhees Yeah I was a big NNW fan for a long time and only fell off it after the sale. Glad it's back in good hands. Love the iCloud sync so far, love the mac-ness we all know and love. Definitely feels like an old pair of jeans I forgot I had but which still fit really well. So I guess this decision is made ;) cc and thanks to @brentsimmons

@wklj Yeah there are some choices I just don't love in Reeder's UI. You nailed it.

@ethanschoonover Not a strong preference, but a moderate one for Reeder’s UX. I loved NNW from back in the day, but something about Reeder’s shortcuts and behavior meshes better with how I want to use RSS.

@ethanschoonover NNW for the same reason I use vi: I’ve been using it far to long to consider the switching costs to my muscle memory.
